Quantum key distribution system clocked at 2 GHz.
An improved quantum key distribution test system operating at clock rates of up to 2GHz using a specially adapted commercially-available silicon single-photon counting module is presented. The use of an enhanced detector has improved the fiber-based quantum key distribution test system performance in terms of transmission distance and quantum bit error rate.
متن کاملHigh-speed photon counting techniques for broadband quantum key distribution
Quantum Cryptography has demonstrated the potential for ultra-secure communications. However, with quantumchannel transmission rates in the MHz range, typical link losses and signal-to-noise ratios have resulted in keyproduction rates that are impractical for continuous one-time-pad encryption of high-bandwidth communications. We have developed high-speed data handling electronics that support ...
متن کاملEfficient and low-noise single-photon avalanche photodiode for 1.244-GHz clocked quantum key distribution.
An efficient and low-noise 1.244-GHz gating InGaAs single-photon avalanche photodiode (SAPD) was developed for a high-speed quantum key distribution (QKD) system. An afterpulsing probability of 0.61% and a dark count probability per gate of 0.71 ×10-6 were obtained at a detection efficiency of 10.9% for 1.55-µm photons. Furthermore, our SAPD successfully coped with high detection efficiency (≤ ...
متن کاملBlind reconciliation
Information reconciliation is a crucial procedure in the classical post-processing of quantum key distribution (QKD). Poor reconciliation efficiency, revealing more information than strictly needed, may compromise the maximum attainable distance, while poor performance of the algorithm limits the practical throughput in a QKD device. Historically, reconciliation has been mainly done using close...
متن کاملFormal Verification of the Security of a Free-Space Quantum Key Distribution System
The security of a free-space Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) system is analyzed by using PRISM, a probabilistic model checker. Disturbances and misalignments causing an imperfect channel are considered. The security of the system is formally demonstrated against intercept-resend and random substitution eavesdropping attacks for a particular range of transmitted photons.
